Lodge

Waipiata offers luxury accommodation cocooned by huge native trees on the western shores of the Mahurangi Harbour, just 40 minutes drive north of Auckland.

This stunning 5-star luxury bed and breakfast was designed by renowned architect Noel Lane and awarded a New Zealand Institute of Architects Award for Residential Architecture. With 5 acres (2.2 hectares) of lawn and gardens leading to towering native trees, boardwalks and small tidal coves, Waipiata is a secluded luxury retreat with a unique relationship to the beautiful coastal and rural landscape surrounding it.

The contemporary boutique lodge is open plan and both comfortable and elegant in style with extensive use of walnut, American oak and Portuguese limestone both indoors and out. It features glass walls framing magnificent views of the harbour, estuary and native trees as well as views of an infinity lap and swimming pool which form an integral part of the atrium of the lodge.

It offers a variety of accommodation from bed and breakfast to the newly opened The Pavilion, also designed by Noel Lane, a luxury studio offering guests an independent option, with full breakfast provisions and access to all the leisure activities of Waipiata.

The orchards and gardens are all maintained following organic practices, providing delicious seasonal fruit, herbs, salads and vegetables.

The word retreat is used too freely these days but Waipiata is a retreat starting with the country roads, the verdant sheep and cattle farms you cross above beautiful winding coastline and then the absolute peace and beauty of Waipiata’s strong construction and unique setting.

Waipiata is a property that is totally at one with these remote surroundings, designed with space and comfort to share with guests, giving them a unique experience in this part of New Zealand.
